My first product party

Hello,
I am polling interest in a Stampin' Up Product class. How it works is we have a class centered around a specific stamp set. You learn different ways to use the stamp set to fit a variety of situations. You pay the fee for the class in advance so that I order all of the sets and ensure that they arrive before class. Would you be interested? The first product class is Chalk Talk

I would like to order the first stamp set - Chalk Talk - by Thursday, September 4th to ensure that it arrives in time for class. Class Dates are  Monday, September 15th 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. and Tuesday, September 16th 6 P.M. - 9 P.M. (whichever date is best for you, you do not need to attend two dates) Price of class is $35 and you receive the stamp set Chalk Talk, goodie bag of supplies and leave with 4 make and takes completed. You will have learned techniques during class to re-create the make & takes with your goodie bag supplies.

Stampin' Up Backpack/rucksack

This is so cute! Papercraft Button has created a 'rucksack' cardstock tutorial video. I think that this is darling. I am going to attempt it this week end and see how it works out in a group setting. In case any one wants to be guided through it, I am going to experiment with it on Monday and see if we can do it in one of our classes! Let me know if you like it.

Stampin' Up Custom Cello Bag

Tonight I have a bit of creativity surge as I sort & bag up last weeks orders. I was on Stampin' Connection, the demo only sample sharing site and I found a thread about how to make your own custom cellophane bag. One of the orders that I bagged was a cellophane bag and I thought you may want to learn how to make your own custom bag! It is a great use for the brayer tool.

Lets do a catalog party

Hello,

Today I want to talk to you about how to get a qualifying party. Some of you have been kind and hosted us for a card party where we had a great time making projects with our friends. I am having a great time with you while stamping. I would love for you to earn more of your stampin' up product that you love for free. The easiest way is to host a party- and invite every one that you know.
Inviting tips

  1. In the hostess packet are stampin' up postcard invitations. Go through your address book and write down people you know- every body!  Even someone who lives far away can order online with a hostess code.   Incentive- for every ten addresses of guests that you give me, you earn a free card from my card basket.
  2. You want to aim for 10 - 12 guests. I always assume someone can't order - a lot of budgeting needs to happen near Christmas time. With 10 - 12 guests, you have a better chance of hitting your sales goals and getting things for free- and you don't have to spend your own money if you earn hostess dollars.
  3. Hand your friends & family your catalog. Inviting shouldn't be nerve wracking- you're asking them to have a girls night out with you doing something fun. If they want to do it, they have the opportunity to order if they want to. Let someone look through your catalog and show them what you have made.

Hosting a catalog party is a good way to get your feet wet!

What if I told you that you could host a party - earn a free Good Greetings stamp set, earn items off of your wish list by having a qualifying party and you don't have to clean your house to host the party? It's possible - and very easy! It's called a 'Book Party'. It's the easiest ice breaker about introducing your friends to Stampin' Up! because your friend is already holding the store in their hand when you begin. Simply hand your friend your stampin! up! catalog that you brought home with you at the last party that Monica hosted. Let her know what your favorite stamp set is ( As I would say, Look at page 108. That Summer Silhouettes stamp set is my favorite set! I've used it on so many cards this year!)

What are the benefits for hosting a Book Party?

You earn the 'Good Greetings' set for FREE when you host a $300 party
You get the perks of being the hostess on page 236 of the Annual catalog
You will be entered to 'win' the hostess benefits of the Sept 1st party (like Monica won at the last party)
One of your friends who places an order will receive a FREE door prize when you hand me your hostess packet with completed orders

Remind your friend that it is Christmas season - and Christmas card time! You don't want to wait until last minute and be hectically rushing. Let them know that you are hosting a Book Party and that they can order stampin' up! products through you & help you earn free products for Christmas. Inside of your hostess packet (that I will hand out at my party on the 18th or come by earlier to pick one up) you will find everything that you need to succeed - order forms, postcard invitations, promotional fliers and an idea sheet for finding friends to connect with. All you have to do is share your enthusiasm - share cards that you've made and products that you love~

You can shop online ANYTIME now through Sept 1st and enter this hostess code in the special area before checkout. Talk to me about hosting a party for your friends :)

    This past card buffet

This past Tuesday I hosted a card buffet. At a card buffet I present pre - cut cards in a plastic box and you pick & choose which cards that you like to make. We had a lot of time to discuss the current Stampin' Up! promotions - Short & Sweet went over very well. A big welcome to my new downline - Genie & Monica! I am so excited to host your first work shops for you - (stay tuned for information on those upcoming parties).

Here are the cards that we made at the buffet! If you would like another buffet, let me know. I had a lot of fun at this event.  Theres a cost to pay for the supplies, but like a buffet you make as many as you want. You only make the cards that you want. This is unlike the party set up where I demonstrate a card and everyone makes the same make and take.

Stampinup! Envelope Punch board makes a cute box!

A demonstrator named France Martin has posted a video online that has made me very excited to pull out my envelope punch board :) This looks very easy and fun! I'm going to experiment this week and see if I can show this to you. If you have one, try it out and let me know how it worked out for you :)

I *love* stampin' up demonstrator support

I *love* stampin' up demonstrator support.  I have been head over heels for Holiday Home polymer stamp set Bundle. It is my first polymer stamp set and these babies need a little more tender loving care than the clear cling stamps that I am used to.  I experienced a 'stickiness' issue - the stamp sticks to the paper while stamping the image. The stamp set still works about 50% of the time, but I don't want to show this stamp set at a party and give the misconception that this is what Stampin' Up! polymer stamp sets do. It was decided that heat may have affected the set before it shipped. Stampin' Up is sending me a whole new set - for free - and gave me recommendations for fixing my current set. I am currently soaking the set in warm, soapy water to see if that helps. I love Stampin' Up! It lets me share what I love- creating something that matters.

I shared the tag that I was pulling from the Holiday Buffet (until the new stamp set arrives) and my husband thought that it was very cute. He doesn't always love my taste in stamps - and he ALWAYS mocks the Gee, Thanks set- but when he likes something, I feel good sending it to our family :)

    Holiday Sneak Peek

    Hello!

Here is a little something that I CASED (create & share everything!) from Patti (follow her here). I love this little bird from Beautiful Season but I don't like a lot of red on the holiday card which I am seeing around. Patti found the perfect solution - pairing it with Very Vanilla, Brown (I want to say Chocolate chip?) and the retired red designer series paper is a hit.  I don't have a stampin' spritzer that she used for the splatter on the card.  *Update*

I was going to use a splatter effect but I decided to build texture with dry embossing instead. Below is the first mock up of the card. I decided that it was a bit plain jane- great for a QUICK clean and simple card, but not the WOW I like in my holiday cards. I embossed the red layer for a more polished look that every card begs for. I'll get a finished photo up ASAP, but here's the first draft below.

How to fix mistakes in your card (and a sneak at my first attempt at a Holiday card from the NEW catalog)

Here is my first card with Holiday Home & All is Calm DSP. I wanted a layered card with illusion of snow drifts and falling snow..  I cut out some of the foil sheet from the All is Calm DSP & punched out some white card stock with the 2 1/2 Circle punch.  You can see a corner of the DSP is crunched up. Layering is a great way to use DSP that isn't perfect because it hides imperfections behind a layer.

I stamped three snow drifts for the illusion of 'falling snow'. I also love this spindly little tree! The house should be unquestioned in it's inherent cuteness.

Sneak peek at Holiday Home Polymer. This is my first experience with polymer and I find it very easy to use. For the above image, I placed the house, snowflakes and tree where I want it on our largest block. I inked it all at once and stamped in one single motion. Two more stamps gave me two more snowflake drifts! Three stamps = 30 seconds = I love easy placement with polymer!

I then pulled out my Blendabilities in Coastal Cabana & Cherry Cobbler alongside my Daffodil delight stampin' write pen. I got a wee bit carried away with the Blendabilities! The alcohol markers are a breeze to color and blend with. The sensation of 'motion' with the blue streaks at the top of the card quickly turned me off. The 'snow drifts' at the bottom also have some sort of tackiness.  Oh no, I've ruined a card!

So I peeled off the paper on the bottom, making sure to rip the end. It created a 3D white spot. Much better. With scissors, I created a more gentler slope and adhered it and a new 2 1/2 circle with dimensionals. The All is Calm DSP was placed on the top of the card with a notch for the house.  I missed the Snata's Sleigh at the top of the card. I stamped him on scrap paper from the two circle punched sheet and cut him out with my paper snips, applied two dimensionals and put him at the top of the card.

You can see that flipping the card over or adding a layer of paper over a smudge is a very easy fix for saving a card. I understand that no one - me included!- is made of money to spend throwing away card stock & wasting our time.  Remember that you have two sides of the card- and a strip of DSP looks classy and hide any temporary insanity (like a Blendabilties sky, see above)

The final card is  much more aligned with what was in my head. There are two small issues - in the card that I show my friends, the card base will be pool party. That adds more of a 'sky' color to the top of the card and takes away the white wash affect thats here a bit. I will also make sure not to have this line in my snow drift. I think that I will stamp & cut out another house with framelets and put that over the line, creating a 3 D nieghborhood.  Framelets are another 30 second way to add dimension and cover any mistakes that you make!

    What do you think?

    Card Recipe:
Whisper White card stock for base, front (Front cut 1/4 an inch smaller than base on both sides), circle punch & snow drift
All is Calm DSP [about 4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. In the 12 X 12 sheet, thats a small portion]
    Holiday Home Stamp Set
    Accessories
    Coastal Cabana Blendabilities
    Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities
Stampin' Write marker in daffodil delight
    Paper snips
    1/8 silver ribbon

    How do you create?

How do you create?  For me, I have to have a jumping off point. That's the print out you see on the top left table by the post it note. I don't have everything exactly like the first creator - but I substitute what I have to make something with similar color or style! When I create, there's half a dozen half baked ideas in my brain. Nothing truly comes together until the paper is being cut out.

Here is my work space. The bottom table pulls out for more room (great for scrap booking & piecing lay outs).  That top level is for my design and my stamp sets.  The lower shelf holds my envelopes, rulers and scrap paper for quick borders and layers. The top surface holds my embellishment sorter (with my basket of stampin' write markers!) my snail refill, my Stampin' Up! ink pad caddy and then my clear blocks & stampin mist. It is this chaotic when I create because everything has to be within reach. If I have to get up to head to another room, the idea is gone. That pile on the left is paper - yes, it is sorted by which project I am working on. That manilla folder holds pre - cut card bases which cuts down SO much on my time. I

The post it note & paper (torn out of my address book for some sketches on my lunch break at work) capture some shapes and ideas that I have. I get out my supplies when I get home and see whats feasible and what needs to be ordered to make things work out right.

Tonight, my inspiration was my new designer series paper. I opened it up intending to work on the Buffet cards. Once I saw the color and shapes, I re - worked my entire card line up for Monday. I just HAD to show off how versatile this Lullaby designer paper is. All is Calm DSP is just darling - and so easy to coordinate!

I may have some 2 A.M. cropping nights ahead of me but I will be so happy to show this cool paper to my friends on Monday!
These are some cards that I made this morning before work. The blue card is one that I sent as a 'thank you' for attending my card party. The purple one I sent to my parents for hosting us in Arizona a few weeks ago!  I am proud of this card because I designed it myself without CASEing it.  The card front is the new in colors - Blackberry Bliss & Lost Lagoon. The square of the polka dot DSP is layered over. The Summer Silhouettes - pg 108 - stamp set is used with Hello Honey, Mosy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss and Lost lagoon. I chose the background based on the prominent color on the stamp. I cut the stamped image with Ovals Framelets. The sentiment is from the NEW hostess set that you only get for hosting a party in august - good greetings. Silver 1/8 ribbon with a bow wraps up my feelings of gratitude :)

    What is the card buffet?

    August 26th 4 - 8 P.M. is the Card Buffet
Choose from a wide variety of cards like a 'Buffet' meal - make as many of the cards that appeal to you. You do NOT make the cards that do not appeal to you. It is a little different than the party set up where every one copies my card and we make the same things. At the Buffet, you create the cards at your own pace with me on hand to show you how I created it. It's a great time to have fellowship with the girls and catch up on upcoming Birthdays or Holiday cards.

When you arrive, there will be card kits pre - cut arranged within envelopes. You look at the card samples and decide which cards you will be making and choose the corresponding kit. You craft at your own pace alongside every one else. The event is from 4 PM - 8 PM so it is a perfect time to get your Christmas list under control (bring your Christmas holiday card list with you & save time!)

You will have a crack at new HOLIDAY CATALOG product & retired product! It is as supplies last - no more product is available other than whats in the box, so start with your favorite.

I can not stress enough -  Let me know if you are coming. Please pay on time. Please do not no - show - I cut the cards to have enough for every person who says that they are coming.
(Cost is $5, paid by the 20th)

    Calender of Events

    Hello!

One of the most important things for me about stamping is sharing with family and friends. Monday night I was inspired by how creative my friends and family are. Samantha, Teresita, Marisela and my Mom Genie are always surprising me by doing their own unique twist on a card. It gives me that 'ooh, I want to take a picture so I'll remember that!' feeling. I love the feeling you get when you hand someone a hand made card. Instead of an overly expensive card, you're saying ' I created this just for you because I love you'. I don't think there's any greater feeling than that :)

I wanted to take a minute to point out my demonstrator web site. On this site there are ideas for you to make,  a direct link to shop online 24/7 under Products, promotions and details on hosting parties & joining stampin' up. My favorite section of the web site is this one:

    Stampin' Up Calender

It will show you every thing that I have going on.  Next Monday is a Stampin' Up! Party that you can attend. After that is the first Holiday Card Buffet of the year on August 26th. You can read all about the Buffet here
    What is a card buffet

Please RSVP (yes, you can RSVP on the demonstrator web site!) so that I know that you are coming.

    A creative day today

    Hello,

Little reminder on what's going on with me for August:

    August 18th 6 - 8 P.M. is a card party. FREE - nothing to bring :)

    August 26th 4 - 8 P.M. is the Card Buffet (Cost is $5, paid by the 20th)

I hope that every one is doing well today. I had a wonderful time at the stampin' up! party last night. A friend invited two of her friends over and we had a great time making cards. It was the first time that I followed Stampin' Up! workshop template and it went really well! We had a drawing for who got the hostess benefits. The 'Good Greetings' stamp was a fun little incentive for booking a party in August.

I am hosting a party on August 18th where we will be making an embossed Christmas project and a project with the honeycomb folder. I am very inspired and narrowing down ideas for what we are going to make down to two projects was very difficult. In the end, I decided to have three make and take's for the 18th. I don't want to overwhelm any one and two is a good medium - you get to make two projects to take home and gain some experience. Sometimes you don't know if you like something - or don't like it- until its in your hand.

Tonight I narrowed down our Make & Takes to 3 projects. The first make and take is a very simple 'Merry' tag from the Snowflake Soiree in the carry over. It has some coloring with the Blendabilities & the Stampin' Write markers - I love coloring!

The second involves embossing. An attendee mentioned that she has some embossing gear and she doesn't know how to emboss. I think that the embossed look is so classy for Christmas. The third project is the Honeycomb embossing folder for the Bigshot! I absolutely love how versatile this little folder is. Pair it with the right embellishments and it can be masculine or pretty.

I attended my upline's card class today. She shared some *great* templates with me. She is an amazing woman who is advocating for me to copy her designs. This woman does her own designs for all of her cards. She is a true inspiration to me.  My favorite card of June's card class is a 'spotlight' that she did with Briar Rose. Briar Rose is a great stamp set but it gets only 2 cards on the Stampin' Connection.  The Stampin' Connection is a resource for demonstrators- demonstrators share their own work so that other demonstrators can 'CASE' - Create And Share Everything.

June made a very simple card to create that packs a 'WOW'. I am going to put my own twist on it and bring it to the Stampin' Up! Card Buffet that I am hosting on the 26th.

    The First Holiday Card party!

I love this time of year. This is the tim where we start the holidays - gathering with family and friends. Tomorrow night, I am lucky enough to gather with my Mom and friends to begin our holiday card crafting. Nothing says 'I love you' like a hand made card :)
