New line: Pendants

Good morning!

I have launched a new line that will be available through my Etsy store.
http://www.etsy.com/shop/Serynanne

These three embroidered pendants are my favorite flowers to embroider: a purple iris, snowdrops and a pink spiderweb rose.

I do have one pendant frame remaining and am conflicted on which flower to embroider to complete the piece! Please help me decide - vote on your favorite flower to enter the giveaway!

How to enter:
* Post a comment here with your favorite flower (1 entry)
* Tweet about this contest (2 entries)

The giveaway concludes on Wednesday, April 27th! Check the blog for which flower has been chosen and who has won the pendant!

Good evening, every one!
The after noon was spent at the day job, sadly. When I got home, I was eager to finish up a card in rich burgundy and green.

I am planning on having new book marks show up at the store, keep an eye out!

New line: rings

Hello!

As I mentioned earlier, I have been interested in getting into a new line of embroidery: embroidered jewelry. I have settings for pins/brooches and necklaces. I am shopping around for ring settings :)

Here is the first of the new line. Peach colored rose ring!
Keep an eye out for more pieces to roll off of my coffee table :) I invite your comments!

Push Cakes

A question in Etsy forums made me wonder about a 'push cake'. Having no idea what it was, I did a quick search.

The pictures look so lovely! I'm not a very good cook, but for this I would certainly try! Has any one else tried to make these?

Craft Idea for children

In visiting my favorite seller, NormasTreasures, I found a wonderful craft idea for children!
Child Craft wearing sticks

I can attest to hours of joy after being taught silk ribbon embroidery as a child. Wouldn't this be a wonderful idea for a craft to occupy a child during a stormy night or vacation?

Embroidery needle
Embroidery Floss in DMC
Yellow floss 741
937

Complementary Ribbon for 937 & 956

Using 9741 floss, make a french knot.

Using 956 pink, thread two plies of embroidery floss on an embroidery needle. Bring it up as near to the knot (at the blue dot in the picture). Form a loop and hold it in place with your finger or a second needle.Pull the needle through the linen to form a petal - shaped loop.
Holding the loop with your finger, place the needle as close as you can to where you brought the needle up. Bring the needle through to the back of the linen. You've formed a lazy daisy stitch, perfect for flowers, chains and borders!

Tulip Tutorial!

Hello every one,

Can't sleep tonight and wish to be productive. Go grab your sewing supplies and lets make a tulip bookmark!

The tulip flower is stitched with a straight stitch and ribbon stitches. I find it best to choose about three different colors - even if the pinks are slightly different, it will look nice.

Set up about three different straight stitches with a good green floss.
The first tulip (the left most one) is created with three stitches. Place two ribbon stitches very close together and leave some slack so that they create that nice curl. Pull up the last stitch at the center of the flower and place it over the top, between the two ribbon stitches.
The second tulip (in red) is created with a single straight stitch! These will look great as buds.
The third flower (in pink) was created in the same manner as the first flower- two close placed ribbon stitches. You can use variations of this technique for a beautiful, natural look!
