My camera must be hiding in the bottom of the closet; but I made good progress on the big book of Christmas quickies.  I had been stitching the proverb for about half an hour on Monday and Tuesday, then finished it in an hour last night.  I got frugal with the beading - the pattern calls for a double line of Mill hill glass beads around the first line; but I want to *finish* this before Christmas :)

I have never done an item with a lot of beading; but I like how it is looking. I will post a picture ASAP!

Hello!

I have to start off with an apology that I can't find my camera.  My husband and I brought it to the air show and it mysteriously has vanished into one of the 'military mole's backpack' 300 pockets.  I worked on some embroidery from the Big Book of Christmas quickies last night.  My favorite piece of the moment is a 'Good will towards men' ornament that is quick and looks pretty.  I may make it into gift tags, cards and add some holly for an ornament. The design is simple - just gold floss and white cording in an oval shape.

I might add some gold beading, some holly, maybe some shiny fillament as I go along.  Silk ribbon embroidery can really add depth and beauty to simplicity. I'll post the original and some of my embellished ones here - as soon as that camera shows itself!

Where do you find your inspiration?

I am coming off of a long break from embroidery and one of my favorite ways to feel 'back in touch' is to check out the Etsyneat team discussions. I found a lovely giveaway at Tales Karina Marie:

I found the mouse with the crazy belly to be absolutely adorable. This reminds me of the doodle stitching my Amy Ray that I absolutely adored (and accidentally bought twice :) ) Be sure to follow the link and look at the three beautiful patterns that are up for the giveaway.

I wanted to update my inventory list I'm searching for the next item to make... what do you think it should be?  Some of my items are listed at the shop to give you an idea of what I make.

Do you like embroidered pins? Cards? Bookmarks?  What do you like silk ribbon embroidery on?

Comment here; please

The current line up at the shop.  Planning on bringing out kids bookmarks & Christmas ornaments ASAP.  Look for early bird specials!

A friend of mine shared a link about a readathon that her sons are going to particiapte in.  It made me remember how much reading influenced my life when I was younger.   I want to start participating by sewing bookmarks and reading inspirational cards for children and am curious if you'd like to join me!   Does any one know of any good, reputable charities for children?  I'm thinking about doing a matching proceeds; but the only charity I know about and like is Heifer.

Oh my gosh, where have I been for so many months?
April 9th: Started new job (full time hours for six weeks.  I miss my 19  work hours & 20 hours of crafting week!)
April 10: Moved into the new house!
April 28th: Got married
Recently started a 4 am shift at work that just kicks my muse.

I am going to unpack the craft room and get started again. I think having a dedicated space will really improve my shop and my skills...once everything is in its place. Until then; share with every one:
Fill in the blank: One of my favorite needlepoint projects was a _____________ that I gave to my _________

Gift tag that I gave to my now - husband. It was right when I had learned cross stitch; so it reads 'Thank you for making me so hoppy!'. I use AIDA now :P
